Swedish authorities lambast maximum harmonisation for Basel III

Representatives from the Riksbank and the Swedish financial regulator, Finansinspektionen, attended the first Council for Cooperation on Macroprudential Policy meeting, which saw the officials express their frustration at potentially strict capital adequacy requirements.

The Riksbank released the minutes from the February 24 meeting on March 2. They show officials were united in their criticism of the proposal currently being considered at the EU level, to implement the Basel III Accord. The
