Vietnam's Interbank E-Payment System to begin May

VIETNAM - The central bank in Vietnam is intending to launch an interbank e-payment system early next month in an effort to speed up payments.

The system will enable banks to handle up to 5,000 payment documents per day compared with 850 using the current system.

The system will comprise two levels, provincial payment centres (PPCs) and the National Payment Center(NPC). The former will handle money transfers within its covering area while the latter will handle transactions from one PPC to another
