Fisher gets markets job

Paul Fisher has been appointed as the new executive director for markets of the Bank of England. Fisher will start in his role on 1 March and will also sit on the monetary policy committee (MPC).

Fisher replaces Paul Tucker who was appointed as deputy governor on 10 December last year.

He joined the Bank in 1990 as an economist and has held a variety of senior management roles, most recent as head of the foreign exchange division. He received a PhD in macroeconomic modelling from the University
