Treasury seeks co-operation to better enforce sanctions on North Korea and Russia

Countering North Korean cryptocurrency fraud is a top priority for the enforcement of US sanctions against the reclusive state, a US Treasury official said in South Korea on June 28. 

Brian Nelson, undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence at the Treasury Department, told the Maeil Business Newspaper that virtual currency fraud is a “significant generator of revenue” for the North Korean regime.
