BoJ finds some CBDC designs suffer from bottlenecks
Designs faced pressures on transaction throughput, latency and CPU load
Some designs of central bank digital currency (CBDC) hit bottlenecks when dealing with high transaction volumes, a trial by the Bank of Japan finds.
The BoJ published findings from phase one of its CBDC proof of concept on May 26. The trial explored three possible ledger designs, testing each in an experimental environment built on a public cloud.
