Contract won by Japanese company that co-developed Cambodia’s digital currency

The Pacific island nation of Palau is developing a blockchain platform to issue government bonds.

Nikkei reported that Saramitsu won the 100 million yen ($0.64 million) contract to bring the platform online on a trial basis in 2024, aiming for a full rollout next year. The project is receiving aid from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Japanese foreign and finance ministries will advise on project management.
