Back in 2021, as the Covid-19 pandemic was sending markets into a tailspin, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), an $850 billion Middle Eastern sovereign wealth fund (SWF), had a rethink about its investment approach. This involved strengthening internal data systems, moving towards more portfolio-wide measurement metrics and looking much more closely at the role that private assets should be playing in the fund’s overall investment strategy.
