Bahamas central bank backs law change on SDRs
Governor supports move to allow finance ministry to use SDRs but opposition condemns proposal
The Bahamas’ central bank is co-operating with the government on legal changes concerning the International Monetary Fund’s special drawing rights (SDRs), its governor said.
John Rolle told Eyewitness News the central bank was working on legislation to allow the country’s finance ministry to be credited with SDRs. “The central bank worked closely with the government to access the SDRs”, he said, specifically mentioning those distributed in 2021.
