Bank of Israel reports continued rise in digital payments

Survey shows increase pre-dates emergency measures brought in during Gaza war

The Bank of Israel (BoI) has said payments made via digital wallets grew in value by more than 13 times between August 2021 and July 2023 to hit 3.58 billion shekels ($0.95 billion).

In the results of a survey on its payment and settlement system, published on August 12, the BoI said average daily expenditure using digital wallets reached 115.7 million shekels over the period – six times higher than in December 2021.
