Riksbank carries out largest rate rise since 2000
Swedish central bank says chances of wage-price spiral have increased
The executive board of Sveriges Riksbank raised the policy rate by half a percentage point on June 30 in its second increase this year.
The hike is the largest since 2000, and brings Sweden’s policy rate to 0.75%, its highest level since late 2014. The Riksbank also carried out a further tightening move by slowing down its asset reinvestments.
In its press statement, the board cited rising food and energy prices for growing upside inflation risks. These in turn derived from post-pandemic
