Ramsden breaks inflation process into four steps, finding persistent elements are weakening
Persistent elements of UK inflationary pressure could be set to ease, Bank of England deputy governor Dave Ramsden said on April 19.
Ramsden gave his analysis of the “nexus” between the UK’s inflation, expectations and wages, in a speech in Washington, DC. He broke the UK inflation process into four steps, with the first being fading external inflationary pressure leads to a lower headline figure. A lower energy price cap and fuel duty freeze mean “we can be confident” inflation will fall close
