Riksbank to investigate year-end distortion in money market rate

Swestr tends to decline in the last business day of the year

Sveriges Riksbank will investigate the distortions affecting the short-term money market rate on the last business day of the year, it said on June 2.

The Swedish Krona Short Term Rate (Swestr) is calculated by the Riksbank based on transactions in local currency carried out in the money market at the shortest maturity. In interactions with the central bank, market participants highlighted the “year-end effect”. Swestr tends to drop on the last business day of the year.

A lower Swestr results
