Burundian president replaces governor again
President changes central bank leader for second time in two years, without giving reason
Burundi’s president appointed Édouard Normand Bigendako as governor of the central bank on October 8, media reported.
Evariste Ndayishimiye’s widely circulated decree did not specify why he was replacing Dieudonné Murengerantwari, the incumbent governor, who had been appointed to a five-year term in August 2022.
Bigendako, the new governor, was previously managing director at the Burundian development bank BNDE. He succeeded Murengerantwari in this position as well, when the latter became
