Argentinian presidential candidate Javier Milei has announced his candidate to take over the central bank — to fulfil his campaign promise of abolishing it.

Milei told Radio El Observador he would name university professor Emilio Ocampo to serve as governor of the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA).

On social media, Ocampo responded it was “an honour that [Milei] has chosen me to close the central bank and eliminate inflation, the most perverse and arbitrary tax that exists and which for decades
