Bangladesh appoints senior civil servant as central bank governor
Abdur Rouf Talukder will take office in July
The government of Bangladesh has appointed Abdur Rouf Talukder, a senior civil servant at the finance ministry, to be the next governor of the Bangladesh Bank.
The ministry of finance announced the appointment on June 11. Talukder will begin a four-year term on July 3.
Talukder succeeds Fazle Kabir, who has led the Bangladesh Bank since March 2016. The government extended Kabir’s initial four-year term in 2020, first for three months and then for another two years. Kabir reaches the mandatory
