Cost of Mark Carney’s leaving gifts revealed
Former governor’s gifts appear small in comparison with predecessor Mervyn King
The former governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, was presented with a £4,044 ($5,112) cast iron replica of part of the central bank’s Threadneedle Street headquarters as a leaving present.
According to a freedom of information release published by the BoE, Carney also received two bound signature books at a cost of £815. The costs of the leaving gifts were met by the central bank with the approval of the Court of Directors.
