People: Carmen Reinhart to be World Bank chief economist
Carmen Reinhart to take over from Penny Goldberg at World Bank; BIS picks Hong Kong hub head
Washington, DC: The World Bank has named Carmen Reinhart its new chief economist, after each of the two previous chief economists left after periods of just 15 months in the role.
Reinhart is currently professor of international finance at Harvard University, and will take up the new role on June 15. Much of her previous work has focused on international capital flows and debt.
She served as chief economist of Bear Stearns from 1985–86, before moving to the International Monetary Fund, later
