Uribe leaves Central Bank of Colombia after 12 years of governorship

The governor of the Central Bank of Colombia is to step down in 2017, having managed the institution for 12 years. José Darío Uribe will leave the bank on January 4, making way for Juan José Echavarría.

Echavarría, who was elected by the central bank's board of directors, will leave his role as a professor at the Universidad del Rosario, a post he has held since 2014 after serving as campaign manager for current president Juan Manuel Santos.
