IMF urges Kosovo to fill vital central bank positions

Supervisory board lacked quorum for approximately 18 months

The International Monetary Fund has urged Kosovan authorities to appoint a new central bank deputy governor and to fill a vacancy on the supervisory board. The recommendations continue a pattern of fund concern about the institution’s governance.

In a press release issued on May 26, after an IMF staff visit, the fund said that an “independent, accountable, and fully functional central bank is critical for the stability of the financial system”.
