Malaysian central bank plays down impact of potential data breach

BNM says Malaysia’s payment system remains “safe and secure”

Malaysia’s central bank says a potential data breach reported by payment service provider iPay88 has not compromised the country’s payment system.

“The breach originated from and is confined to iPay88’s payment card systems and does not involve vulnerabilities in the banks’ systems,” said Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in a statement today (August 12).
