Mozambique sources new payments IT provider after dispute

Payment dispute pushes central bank to speed up unification of payment systems

The Bank of Mozambique has chosen US-based payment services firm Euronet to provide the IT framework for its interbank payment system.

Euronet will provide, install and maintain a new computer system for the interbank payments network, known locally as Simo.

“The new solution offered by Euronet meets the current market needs,” said Luisa Navele, director of the legal affairs office of the central bank.

“It is our belief that today starts a new journey towards the unification of all e-payment
