Kyrgyz central bank partners with World Bank to deliver payments upgrade
NBKR fears instability if systems and oversight not upgraded
The Kyrgyz Republic has experienced a boom in the volume of card payments in the past few years, and the central bank has now partnered with the World Bank to ensure national payment systems are up to the task.
Following a payments-focused World Bank mission to the country early in June, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic (NBKR) is identifying areas for further joint work, with the aim of improving both the oversight and operation of payment systems.
