Fijian governor foreshadows application of mobile payments in agriculture

Barry Whiteside, the Reserve Bank of Fiji governor, has stressed the value of mobile payments to small businesses in the island nation, and pointed to future developments that will enable farmers to sell their crops "directly from their farm gate".

The reserve bank launched mobile banking services in 2010 and, Whiteside explained, they have grown to become an accepted mode of payment.
