Zambia deputy governor emphasises importance of female financial inclusion
Survey data reveals extent of gender disparity in market
Women are seriously underrepresented within Zambia’s financial system, said the deputy governor of the Bank of Zambia.
Tukiya Kankasa said in a speech on May 2 that financial institutions must to do more to promote female financial inclusion, following the release of survey data on women in the financial sector.
Kankasa said the survey found that “the number of borrowers was dominated by men” – around 27 in every 1,000 men had loan accounts compared with just 12 for women. However, he said
