Lebanese central bank urged to allow more cash withdrawals

Depositors unable to draw on savings as Israeli incursion continues

A group of economists and public policy professionals in Lebanon has called on the country’s central bank to allow the withdrawal of more cash for emergency purposes while the Israel’s incursion in the south of the country  is underway.

In a paper on the effects of the conflict on the Lebanese economy, the group, the Independent Task Force for Lebanon, says a continuation of Israel’s attacks on the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah in the country would cost Lebanon at least $20 billion. It calls for
