Inflation to be under control by next June – SBP governor

Head of Pakistan’s central bank hails fall in inflation to 6.9%, down from peak of 38% last year

The governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has said inflation in the country will be “significantly contained” during the current financial year, which ends on June 30, 2025.

In his annual report on the previous financial year, published on October 18, Jameel Ahmed said the lagged impact of the SBP’s tight monetary policy meant its benefits would only be felt over the coming months. Inflation is currently 6.9%, having previously reached a peak of 38% in May of last year.
