Prices fell for 16th consecutive month in August, though currency remains stable

The World Bank

The World Bank has reported continued deflation in Afghanistan, with August marking the 16th consecutive month in which prices fell.

The latest edition of the institution’s monthly Afghanistan Economic Monitor, published on October 15, showed headline inflation had fallen to -6.7% over the 12 months to August, down from -6.6% for the year to July.

The report attributed the decline to additional decreases in the prices of food, clothing and household goods.
