Bank of Russia caps FX withdrawals and EU sanctions Belarus
Russian depositors can withdraw unlimited rubles but only up to $10,000 in foreign currency
Russia’s central bank banned foreign exchange sales by the country’s banks and capped foreign exchange withdrawals by its citizens.
The European Union imposed sanctions on Belarus’s central bank over the country’s support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Bank of Russia announced today (March 9) that bank depositors could withdraw a maximum foreign currency amount equal to $10,000 from their accounts. It said banks would change other foreign currencies into dollars if depositors wanted
