RBA outlines retail CBDC pilot projects
Australian central bank will test 14 use cases, working with major lenders and other firms
The Reserve Bank of Australia will work with major banks to test a retail central bank digital currency (CBDC), it announced today (March 2).
The RBA has selected 14 CBDC use cases for live pilot tests over the coming months. It received more than 140 submissions from firms ranging from established banks to fintech companies.
In one trial, ANZ Bank will be authorised to buy CBDC from the central bank and provide the digital currency to other entities. In another, ANZ will work with two
