Christine Lagarde and Jerome Powell discuss “ripple effects” of war in Ukraine

Top central bankers and senior government leaders spoke today (April 21) about the spillover effects of war in Ukraine, impact of climate change, and need to reform global institutions.

Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, said the Russia-Ukraine war will cause “ripple effects going way beyond Europe”.

Speaking at the International Monetary Fund’s Spring Meetings, Lagarde “saluted” the current sanctions against Russia and Russian oligarchs, the isolation of Russian assets
