Weidmann urges Greece to implement further reforms

Deutsche Bundesbank president recommends additional reforms and “sound” fiscal policy

The president of the Deutsche Bundesbank urged Greece to implement further economic reforms, in a speech delivered in Athens on August 30.

Jens Weidmann welcomed Greece’s ability to “stand on its own feet again”, which he attributed to “comprehensive budget consolidation measures and economic reforms”. But he added that the job is not yet complete, as the economic recovery “has not yet reached the population”.
