US President Joe Biden’s March 2022 executive order, ‘Ensuring responsible development of digital assets’, included a directive for the director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the chief technology officer of the United States to submit a report on central bank digital currency (CBDC) to the president. This report, the Technical evaluation for a US central bank digital currency system, was published in September.

The report (spoiler alert) doesn’t make any
