Central bank collaboration on CBDC warranted, says Bank of Israel official

Report rules out CBDC in Israel for now

Central banks should consider forming a broader collaborative working group to investigate the benefits and risks of central bank digital currencies, according to a senior research official at the Bank of Israel.

Speaking on the launch of the central bank’s own report on CBDCs, Sigal Ribon – head of the monetary division within the research department – says given a lot of the work on the topic is being replicated, there could be a case for forming an international effort.
