UK public has ‘reasonable’ access to cash, regulators say
But pandemic made it difficult for people to access and pay with cash, new research finds
Most people have “reasonable” access to cash in the UK, according to new research from the Financial Conduct Authority and Payment Systems Regulator.
However, a rising number of people are finding it “difficult” to cope, with fewer businesses accepting cash in the wake of the pandemic.
According to the regulators’ latest Access to Cash survey, 95.4% of the UK population is currently within 2 kilometres of a free cash access point.
This could be via any of the 72,055 cash access points
