Trinidad to remove Columbus imagery from TT$100 banknote

The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago announced on February 16 that it would be issuing a new TT$100 bill that includes the country’s new coat of arms.

The country’s parliament on January 13 approved a change to the coat of arms in order to remove references to European colonialism. Instead of featuring three tall ships associated with the era of explorer Christopher Columbus, the new version displays the national instrument, the steelpan.
