ECCB says pilot CBDC will return next week
Barbados firm Bitt still working on DCash project after outage beginning on January 14
The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank announced today (March 3) its DCash digital currency pilot project would go back online next week. The ECCB’s prototype central bank digital currency (CBDC) has been unavailable since January 14.
The central bank developed the CBDC with a Barbados-based fintech company, Bitt, which developed the software that creates DCash and runs its associated payments system. The ECCB’s chief risk officer Sharmyn Powell told Central Banking that it “continues to work
