Moody's
As a global risk assessment firm with over 35 years’ ESG expertise, Moody’s is committed to helping market participants advance strategic resilience, responsible capitalism, and the greening of the economy. Our offerings span credit, ESG, sustainable finance, and climate risk solutions, and help our customers identify risks and opportunities and provide meaningful performance measurements and insights. We are positioning ourselves to offer the market’s gold standard by coherently aligning ESG performance, credit impact, and risk valuation – something no other provider can do.
We are actively engaged in supporting central banking institutions around the world, leveraging our financial sector expertise to process complex datasets into decision-useful, science-based information that clients can use to manage risk and make more sustainable decisions.
Central banks need better tools to help them conduct detailed ESG screening, identify degrees of risk posed by physical climate hazards, assess net zero claims, and evaluate transition readiness. Our products, data, and solutions help identify and evaluate climate risks – and unlock opportunities – through integration into capital allocation and long-term planning. We offer a broad spectrum of climate solutions and insights, ranging from entity level information to macro level analytics, spanning identification and quantification of climate risk and readiness.
This wide array of solutions has enabled us to provide many central banking clients with ad hoc solutions, as well as the insight needed to drive innovative long-term stress testing. Among the solutions most commonly put to use by our central bank customers is our Physical Climate Risk data – applicable at the asset, sub-sovereign, or sovereign level – which capture exposure to floods, heat stress, hurricanes & typhoons, sea level rise, water stress and wildfires for 10,000 companies, and offer on-demand physical risk scoring for real assets. Alongside this is our Transition Risk Data, including carbon footprint, brown/green assessment, temperature alignment, energy transition and TCFD reporting data for 10,000 companies, with coverage rapidly expanding. Additionally, we provide climate-adjusted macroeconomic forecasts with an 80-year horizon, and climate-adjusted probability of default (PD) for listed and unlisted companies, powered by Moody’s award-winning Expected Default Frequency (EDF™) model. In addition, our first-of-its-kind ESG Score Predictor offers predictive ESG metrics on 140 million companies globally, each one representing a potential target for deep-dive analysis via our domain-defining ESG Assessments.
