Nigerian governor takes key role less than two months after becoming a central banker

West Africa: Central Bank of Nigeria governor Godwin Emefiele was elected to one of the key posts in the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) last week, when the member states met in Abuja.

Emefiele, who took over the Nigerian central bank on June 3, was appointed as the next chairman of the committee for the governors of the six central banks within the WAMZ.

Delivering the keynote address at the meeting, Emefiele warned the member states – Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone
