Another rate cut on the cards, despite improved inflation outlook, says McDermott
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand's (RBNZ) latest forecasts indicate further policy easing will be required to ensure inflation settles near the middle of the institution's target range, an assistant governor at the central bank has said.
Annual consumer price inflation for the third quarter is likely to be low, but the bank expects it to rise in the fourth quarter to be in the bottom half of its range of 1–3%, John McDermott said when he gave a speech in Rotorua on October 11.
