Afghanistan needs to use mobile money better, governor says
Central Bank governor describes coverage of services as "scant"
Afghanistan is failing to reap the full benefits of a mobile money initiative launched by the Bank of Afghanistan in 2007, according to the central bank's governor, Khalil Sediq.
Speaking on May 23, Sediq said the Afghan economy relies heavily on cash: "Doing business with cash is not only risky and costly for consumers, but also carries low transparency and efficiency."
