Kuroda unfazed by ‘somewhat stagnant developments’
BoJ chief insists economy will bounce back after summer lull
Japan's economy has experienced "somewhat stagnant developments" over the summer with low inflation, falling demand from overseas and volatile financial markets, Bank of Japan (BoJ) governor Haruhiko Kuroda admitted today (September 28).
Nevertheless, at a meeting with business leaders in Osaka, Kuroda insisted Japan was about to escape its doldrums. Inflation, stuck stubbornly at 0%, is a particular area of concern for the BoJ, but Kuroda saw prices poised to move upwards.
