Kuroda says QQE bringing ‘landmark’ changes to Japan
Data starting to show improved expectations
Japan is experiencing "landmark changes" under the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) programme of qualitative and quantitative easing (QQE), governor Haruhiko Kuroda said today.
The extraordinarily accommodative monetary policy has delivered positive inflation for 20 months in a row – the longest run since 1998. Moreover, base pay rose last year for the first time in 20 years.
"Both examples represent landmark changes for Japan," Kuroda told the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan.
