Riksbank minutes reveal knife-edge decision to cut

Cecilia Skingsley says decision was hardest since her appointment to the board

The executive board of Sveriges Riksbank faced an unusually difficult decision at their latest monetary policy meeting, according to minutes published on February 22.

Ultimately, four members voted to cut rates to -0.5%, and two – Martin Flodén and Henry Ohlsson – dissented. Deputy governor Cecilia Skingsley said the decision “was the most difficult she had faced since her appointment to the executive board”.
