SARB's monetary policy review

Electricity price rises and the depreciation of the rand, have led to a worsening of the domestic inflation outlook over the past six months, the South African Reserve Bank said in its latest Monetary Policy Review.

Domestic developments along with higher global energy and food prices had, the review said, "contributed to deteriorating inflation expectations and signs of generalised inflation pressures emerging in the economy."
