Danish central bank posts net fall in profit

Danmarks Nationalbank, the central bank, posted a net profit of 2.844 bln dkr for the full-year ending Dec 31, 2004, down from 3.609 bln dkr a year earlier.

The year-on-year decline was primarily due to a fall in net interest income, declining to 3.954 bln dkr from 4.454 bln dkr, the central bank said.

Furthermore, value adjustments saw a total loss of 662 mln dkr for the year. The value of the bank's gold stock declined by 174 mln dkr, caused by a fall in the gold prices translated into Danish
