Fed unveils stress scenarios under revised testing approach

Severe scenario turned up a notch

The US Federal Reserve unveiled the latest scenarios for its 2017 stress testing on February 3, incorporating various reforms to its framework at the same time.

The changes reflect an overhaul of the stress-testing approach, as outlined by Fed governor Daniel Tarullo in September 2016, including adjustments to the way models are updated and a lighter load for less systemic banks.

As in previous years, the Fed made various tweaks to the models underlying the tests, including the ways operational
