Study sheds light on uneven pace of decline in correspondent banking
The landscape of correspondent banking is changing, but in a complex and uneven way, a study published today (July 13) by the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI) finds.
The report unearths details of why many banks are reducing or abandoning their correspondent relationships, based on both a qualitative survey and data from the Swift network.
Correspondent banking is where one bank (the correspondent) holds deposits owned by other banks (the respondents) to provide payments
