Buba’s Dombret leads calls to focus on bank profitability
Board member distinguishes between surviving and prevailing post-crisis
German banks were among the best performing in the European Central Bank's (ECB's) comprehensive assessment, but Deutsche Bundesbank's Andreas Dombret has issued a warning over their inability to compete with their regional and international rivals.
Münchener Hypothekenbank was the only bank in Germany to fail the exercise, recording a shortfall of €229 million ($290 million) under the adverse scenario of the stress test, but it has already raised enough capital to cover this.
