Ekholm leaves Riksbank for post in finance ministry

Deputy quits term early to become state secretary to new finance minister

Sveriges Riksbank deputy governor Karolina Ekholm is leaving the central bank to become state secretary under Sweden's new finance minister.

The dovish deputy, who has often taken a different view on monetary policy from the majority of the Riksbank board, thereby leaves the bank about six months before her term expires in March.

Ekholm was appointed to the Riksbank's executive board in early 2009. During her term, she aligned herself with Lars Svensson, a former board member and Princeton
