Bank of Finland appoints new head of legal affairs

The Bank of Finland today (September 11) announced the appointment of Maritta Nieminen (57) as head of the legal affairs unit at the central bank.

Nieminen is the first woman to hold the position and she will take up the post on November 1, 2012. The position is for a five-year term.

The legal affairs unit is responsible for handling all the central bank's legal issues and is involved in preparations related to Eurosystem decision-making.
